Schloss Bensberg is without doubt one of the most impressive buildings ever built in the German baroque style. Yet, during its 300-year old history the former royal hunting lodge of the Elector Johann Wilhelm II (popularly called Jan Wellem) fared pretty badly. Since its sold to a big insurance company in the end of the 90's gave the monumental estate a proper future. The Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg now radiates a new spendour and dignity.
