Four Seasons Resorts Maldives:
The balance of yin and yang |
 |
|
Splashing down on Landaa Giraavaru
by seaplane, you can’t help but notice a giant Yin-Yang symbol on the
sea bed, just near an over-water spa pavilion in a bright turquoise
lagoon. The famous symbol from the Chinese philosophy of nature – said
to be the second most powerful force in the universe – denotes both
heaven and earth, the tensions between the elements and their
dependence on one another. |

Lindian Village:
Where rhodes is still greek |
 |
|
For the elite of Rome, Rhodes was already a
popular holiday location before Christ was born. Great leaders such as
Caesar, Brutus and Cicero later profited from the knowledge of Rhodian
philosophers and rhetoricians. Nowadays, the largest Dodecanese Island
still attracts tourists from all over the world. They come to
experience the island’s unique flair and to trace the magnificent
history of the fourth largest Greek island. The Lindian Village
provides the perfect base for such an undertaking. |

Um a Paro Bhutan:
To the kingdom of the Thunder Dragon |
 |
|
Zigzagging through the skies, I beat out the
Himalayan waltz on a folding table to the droning of the engines.
Seven thousand to the left, six thousand to the right, directly below
a peak of “only” five thousand metres, dazzling glaciers, brilliant
sunlight – a wraparound panorama of space and mountains almost
certainly unmatched anywhere in the world. A voice over the
loudspeakers informs us that we’re “brushing the mountains” – it’s the
English pilot on our Druk Air flight (Royal Bhutan Airlines, fleet of
four aircraft) preparing us for another tight landing in the Paro
valley, the only one in the Himalayan kingdom wide enough to
accommodate an airstrip. |
